About
A 13-minute walk from the East Exit of JR Kamata Station (12 minutes from Keikyu-Kamata Station), Kamata Onsen is a long-established public bathhouse founded in 1937. It draws on undiluted natural kuroyu (black) hot spring water, among the darkest in the Kamata area, with two black-water tubs: a lower-temperature bath (around 40-42°C) and a scorching high-temperature bath (around 45-50°C). The facility also has an electric bath, a jet bath, and a roughly 18°C cold bath. Separate men's and women's saunas are available for an extra ¥300 (a 12-visit sauna ticket costs ¥3,000). Admission is ¥600 for adults (age 12+), ¥200 for elementary-school children, and ¥100 for preschoolers; a "bare-essentials" set (¥900, includes admission) with a bath towel, face towel, body soap, and rinse-in shampoo is available for guests arriving empty-handed. Cash only. On the 2nd floor, Kamata Onsen Dining serves the bathhouse's signature hot-spring kamameshi rice and Ota-ku's local shio yakisoba, and doubles as a banquet hall seating about 80. Free parking is available for 2 cars. The official site's English page states that tattoos are allowed. Mixed bathing is limited to children under age 6 and under 120cm tall.
