Sauna & Hotel Karumaru Ikebukuro

A men-only sauna and hotel (except for a monthly Ladies Day) a 30-second walk from Ikebukuro Station's West Exit C6, on the JR Yamanote Line and Tokyo Metro. The entrance is on the 6th floor. Four sauna rooms are available: a stone sauna (using Aji granite, about 80C, with auto loyly and staff aufguss service), a kelo sauna (European red pine, about 90C, self-service loyly), a steam sauna (using 9-10 kinds of herbs from Mt. Ibuki, about 50C), and a wood-fired sauna (Finnish-style wood stove, about 80C, lottery/waiting-seat system). Four cold baths are also available: Thunder Tornado (under about 10C), Yasuragi (about 25C), Shoten (about 33C), and Acrylic Avant (about 14C). It is not a natural hot spring, but there are also five other baths: a high-concentration carbonated bath, an electric bath, a rock bath, a masu (wooden box) bath, and an open-air jacuzzi. The 5th floor has a restaurant and relaxation services (body care, reflexology, Thai massage, head spa), and the 9th floor offers akasuri (exfoliation) and body treatments. The rest area has a library space with about 10,000 manga and magazines and a co-working space; lodging options range from capsule-type rooms (VIP, etc.) to hotel-type rooms (compact single, etc.). Business hours are 11:00 to 10:00 the next day (bath use until 9:00 the next day). The standard admission fee is ¥3,480 for general guests and ¥2,980 for members (unlimited time), with timed courses also available: ¥1,980 for 60 minutes, ¥2,880 (¥2,380 for members) for 120 minutes, and an early-morning course (4:00-10:00) at ¥1,980 on weekdays and ¥2,480 on weekends/holidays. A ¥1,980 surcharge applies for entry between 0:00 and 4:00, ¥480 on Fridays and the day before holidays, and ¥980 on weekends/holidays. Face towels, bath towels, and facility wear are included in the rental. Guests under 18 are not admitted (high school students are generally not admitted).
